“The word education must not be understood in the sense of teaching but of assisting the psychological development of the child.” ~ Maria Montessori
ecently rated Outstanding by Ofsted, Paint Pots Montessori School Hyde Park is set in a carefully designed spacious environment. We have direct access to our own beautiful enclosed large outdoor space where the children can play freely with equipment for physical exercise, (such as scooters, different sized balls and hula-hoops) gardening activities and engage in imaginative role-play with dress-up clothes and other props. The children have the opportunity to go out every day and during the warmer seasons we usually access the outdoor area for most of each session. We maintain a ‘free work-cycle’ during our sessions where the children can choose which activities they would like to work with for as long as they would like to.
Paint Pots Hyde Park has a wonderful area of woodland used exclusively for Forest School. Miss Vinni and Miss Hennie lead sessions on alternate weeks where the children freely explore the changing natural environment whilst the teachers look closely and document the children’s questions, comments and discoveries. Our Forest School ethos is embedded within the curriculum and is not something that is tagged on to the learning experience. The discoveries the children make, beyond the boundaries of the classroom are incorporated within the school environment in both a physical and conceptual way. Once a week, the Hyde Park teaching team invite the children from Paint Pots Montessori School Bayswater for their Forest School experience.
At Paint Pots Montessori Nursery Schools, we believe that having the opportunity to make your own choices is essential to children developing a positive disposition to learning. In addition we offer structured group activities such as art, cooking, music & movement and show & tell on a daily or weekly basis. We go on outings at least twice per term and in the past these have included visits to local places such as the park or supermarket as well as to places further afield such as the National Gallery, Science Museum or the London Wetlands Centre. There is also the option of your child learning French (at an additional cost).
Once the children reach the age of three they have the choice to stay for the full day at Paint Pots Hyde Park. The children bring in packed lunches and are involved in preparing the tables and washing up the crockery afterwards. Lunch time is a relaxed and social part of the day where we all sit down and eat together. At Paint Pots Montessori School Hyde Park children can attend from 2 years 6 months – 5 years.
