 Chelsea Newsletter – Spring 2011

A warm welcome back to our returning families and to the new families joining us this term. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a great start to the year!

The children have come back after their holidays full of life with a burst of confidence and self-awareness. We have observed great development with language and speech. They have settled comfortably back and are exploring the environment and challenging themselves to new activities.
It is with great pleasure that we announce the exciting news of Miss Karina’s engagement during the holidays! We are all very happy for her.
This term we would like to introduce the children to wearing ‘slippers’/’crocs’ in the classroom. These can be kept at school and the children can change into them on arrival at school in the morning.

We invite you to have a look at our ‘New Photo Board’ where there will pictures of your children engaged with work and activities throughout their days at school. Our roles as teachers within the classroom environment and children’s key person will be placed on this board.
Keep an eye out for our ‘Exciting Afternoon Program’, which will include baking, plenty of creative activities and lots more!

With our school having so much ‘Cultural Diversity’ we would like to invite you during the course of the year to come in and share your traditions and cultures with us. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about the different cultures and traditions around the world. These experiences will be shared on Fridays in the classroom at 11:30. Please inform us when you would like to share with us your traditions.
We would like to invite you to book in for an informal chat with Miss Leila and your child’s key person during the course of the term. We will hold these chats in the morning before school from 8:45am – 9:00am. Please could you put your name down with Miss Leila during the course of next week.

We are aware that it is the time of year for school assessments and if you require any advice or questions please do not hesitate to contact Georgina.

Reminders
Arriving at School – School starts at 9:15 and we please ask would you to arrive promptly. We would also take this opportunity of reminding you that the children need to be settled into the work cycle as quickly as possible and therefore we discourage parents from accompanying their child into the classroom.
Change of Clothes – Please ensure that your child has a complete set of spare clothes in their bag each day.
Sickness – Please keep children at home when they are unwell and contact the school to let us know.
Snack – Children are asked to bring in one piece of fruit each day.
French – If you have not already informed the school that you would like your child to take French classes, please let Miss Leila know as soon as possible.
Notice Board – Please check the Parents Notice Board regularly. It will inform you of any forthcoming topics, events, general news and articles of interest.
Lunch Bunch – The ‘hot lunches’ have been a huge success and the children are thoroughly enjoying the unity of eating together and the excitement of lunch for that day. The weekly menu will be displayed on the notice board.
Friday’s for Parents - We would like to remind you that on Friday’s at 12:15 you are invited into your child’s environment to come and enjoy their world and see what they have been working on and achieving.
Birthdays – We invite you (family of the birthday child) to come and celebrate at 11:45 with the birthday walk, one of our traditions where we ask you to bring in a photo of each year of your child’s life. If you wish to bring in a sweet of some sort we would prefer small cup cakes. A great place is Love Bakery on the Kings Road!
We are looking forward to an exciting and fun term ahead. Together at Paint Pots and Picasso House we like to consider ourselves a family and a community. We encourage all parents to become involved with our school life and that we are always around for a chat.

We wish you all a very happy and prosperous year ahead.
