Tara Thapa Atkins

Tara Thapa Atkins

Deputy Head/Green Pots Group Teacher

Tara was born in a remote village in Nepal. She was an active child who liked adventure and spent most of her childhood climbing trees, fishing, wandering in the forest discovering new things and helping her family with daily chores.  Tara did part of her schooling in Nepal and Hong Kong due to her father’s job as a Gurkha army officer. After finishing school in India she worked in a Montessori school in Nepal where she received in-house training from her employer and learnt about the Montessori way. After teaching there for over 6 and half years Tara was greatly influenced by the teaching method. Hence in 2004 she came to England to study Montessori education and completed two Diploma's in working with children. While studying Tara worked as a tutor and part-time nanny for children at Paint Pots Chelsea which is how she first came into contact with Paint Pots.  She then went on to develop her teaching practice at the Hyde Park school. In 2006 she joined Paint Pots Hyde Park as a group teacher, soon after getting married. Tara loves nature and has a wide knowledge and understanding of the subject. She is fascinated by history, people, culture and different languages. She speaks Nepalese, English, Hindi, my ethnic language (Magar) and have some understanding of Japanese. She loves reading books, fishing, travelling, cooking, gardening, sightseeing and creative activities. Tara loves working with children and believes that children thrive best when they are happy!
